November 20, 2007
Oakland City Commission met on November 20, 2007 for a special meeting. The commissioners present were John Blubaugh, Tim Hunt, and Jimmy Hopkins, and Eric Watt. Mayor Billy Mansfield was also present.
Three items were on the agenda for the special meeting, second reading of the tax rate ordinance, second reading of the ordinance to limit the return of insurance premiums, and the bids for the ourdoor storage shed.
The ordinance to estabilish the tax rate at .080 per $100 passed with no objection. This is the same rate that was established in the 1980’s.
The ordinance to limit the return of insurance premiums passed with no objection. The ordinance establishes a limit of two years for insurance companies to request a refund of the premiums paid. After the two years the money becomes the property of the City of Oakland.
The bid for the 8 x 10 storage shed came in at $500.00 plus incidentals. It was passed without objection. The project will be completed by the December meeting.
As always if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact me at home or via email. I would again like to invite you to our next monthly meeting held the second Tuesday of each month.
