Special Meeting June 25, 2007

A Special Meeting was called on June 25, 2007.   The commissioners present were John Blubaugh, Eric Watt, Tim Hunt and Jimmy Hopkins was absent.  The Mayor was also present.           

The first item on the agenda for the special meeting was the Budget for Fiscal Year 2007-2008.  Upon little discussion the first reading of the budget passed unanimously. 

Next Mayor Mansfield had received a call requesting the Commission look at the option of placing speed bumps on Main St. and Smiths Grove/ Oakland Rd.  The Commission declared that this would pose a threat to vehicles and farm equipment if we place speed bumps on main roads.  The measure did not pass by a unanimous margin. 

The next item on the special meeting agenda was Street Signs.  Some of our signs have come up missing, while others are unreadable due to age and need to be replaced.  A list will be composed by the Commission and given to our Public Works Director at the July meeting. 

Our Vacant Property Committee has determined that two properties in the City of Oakland are uninhabitable.  All necessary paperwork will be forwarded to the Smiths Grove Fire Chief for the next step.  Follow up on this will be done in July.
