May 8, 2007
The May meeting of the Oakland City Commission was held May 8, 2007. The commissioners present were John Blubaugh, and Jimmy Hopkins. Eric Watt and Tim Hunt were absent. Eric did not report but I was in Lexington, KY for training. The Mayor was also present.
As with the beginning of any City Commission meeting we took car of the normal, Minutes from the March meeting (approved) and the Treasure’s Report (approved).
The first item of business was state fund road aid that we received. The amount of $3460.00 was sent to Oakland by the state for our use. We will examine the city streets and make a determination of what to repair in the next couple of months.
City wide garbage disposal was the next item on the agenda. Due to circumstances that the county put in place in 2001, the City of Oakland can not accept bids at this time. This issue was tabled until further discussion with the city attorney could be done.
Bradd Aging Services will receive $125.00 from the City of Oakland as a contribution to this program. This is a program that the city has supported in the past.
Miscellaneous Business:
The Oakland Market property will be available soon for purchase. No further action was taken at this time.
As always feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments that I can help you with. I am and will continue to be available.
